More than 2.356 times played this month

Chenánja is an enthusiastic interdenominational youth choir. The goal of our choir is to sing Dutch - and recently also foreign - psalms, hymns and (patriotic) songs that are based on the Bible and the Three Forms of Unity. The number of members is around 50 young people between the ages of 15 and 35. The choir members come from the wider area of Ede.

Our choir was founded on November 1, 1994. The choir was given the biblical name 'Chenánja'. The name of the choir was chosen in view of its beautiful meaning. The name Chenánja appears in 2 places in the Bible, namely in 1 Chronicles 15 verses 22 and 27. In 1 Chronicles 15:22 it says that Chenaniah was "the prince of the Levites over the lifting up; He instructed them in lifting up, for he was wise." The King James Translators have the following to say about this; "This is to be known the voices, or of the singing as in verse 27.
In 1 Chronicles 15:22 it says that Chenaniah was "the prince of the Levites over the lifting up; He instructed them in lifting up, for he was wise." The King James Translators have the following to say about this; "This is to be known the voices, or of the singing as in verse 27. This is; He was the master of singing, who put order on the tones and voices and when the singers would lift up or start singing."

So this man was a trained singer. He used his talents to magnify the God of the covenant. He turned all those people into a choir, one whole. This was at the same time an invitation to the people to sing together: "Come, go with us and do as we do." So this was not a superficial singing, but he taught the singers it. He taught them to act out the text.

In this way we as a choir want to propagate the name of God and His great deeds and thereby also awaken everyone to magnify this God in a musical way.
