Adriaan Verhoef studied organ and choral conducting at the conservatory, probably in Utrecht.
From an early age he had an unprecedented passion for choral music.
He was the first conductor of De Gouwestem. Under the name of Deo Juvante he forged a large mixed choir from three choirs of the Ger. Municipality: Capelle aan den IJssel (Jubilate), Rotterdam Centre (Laus Deo) and Moerkapelle (Asaf). In the first years, the well-known organist Aad van der Hoeven was the regular accompanist. For many years Adriaan Verhoef was involved in the organization of the Bundestag, in which all choirs of the Reformed Congregations were involved, in the Doelen in Rotterdam. Together with Mr. Chris Hak, these days have become unforgettable.
Adriaan Verhoef died in 1994.
