AMSTERDAM WIND ENSEMBLE
One of the interesting phenomena in music in the eighteenth century was the so-called Harmoniemusik (arranged and original compositions for woodwind and a pair of horns).
The Amsterdam Wind Ensemble has specialized in that harmoniemusik, but also plays 19th century and contemporary compositions for wind instruments. Adventurous programming is not avoided, but the performance of first-quality compositions is aimed at.
The nucleus of the Amsterdam Wind Ensemble consists of ten players. Depending on the programma, the ensemble also plays in a larger strength.
The first Compact Disk of the Amsterdam Wind Ensemble, released in 1992, has received wide acclaim, both in The Netherlands and abroad.
Apart from regular performances at home, the AWE made a tour to Valencia (Spain) and Osaka (Japan) in the summer of 1994.
