Oboist Anja van der Maten enjoys the tours she embarks on with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. "It's fantastic to play the notes you've practiced at home with others." She began taking oboe lessons when she was ten years old. Since then, Anja van der Maten has performed in major concert halls both domestically and internationally. This means she is often away from home. "I'm fortunate that my mother lives so close by," says Anja van der Maten, who recently also became a teacher at the music school in her hometown of Woerden. "The children enjoy it when I come home with all these stories about the orchestra and other countries."
