Arie van der Vlist, born in 1980 in Rotterdam, received his first organ lessons from Mr. J. van Rijswijk. In 1997, he continued his lessons with Everhard Zwart. He also took lessons with Gijsbert Lekkerkerker (improvisation) and with the internationally renowned concert organist Ben van Oosten (literature). He studied piano and choral conducting with Eef de Kwant.

He is the resident organist of the Christian Male Choir of Krimpen aan den IJssel and the Shaare Zedek Choir of Alblasserdam. Arie is a highly sought-after choir and congregational accompanist, contributing to numerous concerts and performances. These activities have taken him to Canada, Germany, Belgium, France (including Saint Eustache in Paris), and England. Arie conducts several choirs.

Arie is the church organist of the Reformed Congregation in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, where he plays the Flentrop & Van den Heuvel organ. He also leads the Association of Bovenstem (High Voice) in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel, where he can be heard accompanying Psalms with the high voice at various singing evenings.

Furthermore, Arie has contributed to many CD/DVD recordings. Solo CDs have been released from Hasselt (2002), The Hague (2008), Bolsward/Dordrecht/Tholen (2012), and Ouderkerk aan den IJssel (2018).

Arie is also active in writing instrumental arrangements and choir adaptations, some of which have been released on CD and/or DVD. He has written various psalm arrangements for organ. In 2019, a "Organ Book with preludes for the 150 Psalms and the Hymns" was published.
