Dr. Bastiaan Blomhert has been a well-known figure in the world of the classical wind ensemble for many decades. Not only as a conductor, including Oktopus, Studio Pepin, the Amadeus Winds and many other groups, but also as a publisher or arranger of an impressive series of works for wind instruments. For example, he arranged the publication of the Harmoniemusik of Die Entfürung aus dem Serail by Mozart himself, which he discovered in a German archive in 1983 and which had been thought lost. He also arranged works such as Mozarts Zauberflöte (for a pantomime version of the opera at the Holland Festival 1982) or Poulenc's l'Histoire de Babar. He has been a conductor at the Amsterdam Wind Ensemble since 1992.
