Wiersema was born in 1959 in Huize Tavenier in Groningen. He attended the pedagogical academy in his hometown.
In 1980 he became a teacher at a primary school in the Frisian town of Ureterp. When he was no longer able to stand in front of the class due to a voice disorder, he started writing. His first publication was Avontuur op Terschelling, for the monthly magazine Rechte Sporen of the Union for Reformed Youth Organization, affiliated with the Reformed Churches liberated.
Later he wrote a serial that was intended to be published in the Nederlands Dagblad. When this didn't happen, publisher Vuurbaak published it.
In 1991, Wiersema started the Chris and Jorieke series, with adventure stories about a brother and sister from the Christian family of a teacher in Ureterp. Later, the Lammers Logbook series was published, about a history professor who travels the world with his family. Wiersema also wrote two war novels: On the Way to the Liberation, about a resistance fighter in the Netherlands, and The Forgotten Battle about the war in the Dutch East Indies.
In 1998, Wiersema became a teacher of geography in secondary education. He has lived in Drachten since 2005. He has been married since 1983 and has four children.
