Cornelis Johannes Kieviet (8 March 1858 – 12 August 1931) was a Dutch teacher and writer. Publishing under the name C. Joh. Kieviet, he was the creator of the famous novel character Dik Trom.

In 1891 Uit het leven van Dik Trom was published by Kluitman. Because of the mischievous character of the main character Dik Drum, Kieviet had difficulty finding a publisher. It took eight years for it to sell out. Drawings by Johan Braakensiek were added to the second edition, and sales were much better this time.

After the period in Etersheim, Kieviet was head of the public primary school in Zaandam for fourteen years from 1903. Here he wrote a follow-up volume, this time about Dik's son Jan, which appeared in 1907 under the title De zoon van Dik Trom. In this place he also wrote When Dik Trom was a boy. Ten years later, Kieviet took early retirement due to his health.

He moved to Wassenaar, where the last three volumes of the Dik Trom series were created. Hoofddorp (the former Kruisdorp) is clearly recognizable as a place of action in the Dik Trom books.

In addition to half a dozen stories dedicated to his hero Dik Trom, Kieviet wrote many other children's novels, often also in a coherent series, such as De club "Van zessen klaar", Wilde Bob, De club op reis and De club in Valkenburg (1898-1915). The historical children's book also gained great fame Fulco de Minstreel.
