After the summer vacation of 2005, rehearsals for the Christian Alblasserdam Youth Choir 'Chaverim' began. This is a youth choir consisting of members aged 16-30 from the Alblasserwaard region and beyond. Currently, the choir has over 100 members, with new members joining every week.
Together, we primarily rehearse Dutch-language music, including Psalms, spiritual, and patriotic songs, interspersed with choir music in other languages.
Our rehearsal space is mainly the church hall of the Ger. Havenkerk in Alblasserdam. Rehearsing in this hall with its good acoustics is delightful.
The rehearsals are led by Lennert Knops, while Ron van Ommen accompanies the general rehearsals and performances on the organ.
In Alblasserdam, we annually perform concerts, as well as in other locations.
'Chaverim' is a Hebrew word meaning FRIENDS. We strive to embody this meaning with each other! A strong bond among members fosters a good atmosphere in the choir.
The goal of 'Chaverim' is to use our talents in singing and music-making to honor Him who has given us these gifts.
