Christelijk mannenkoor ''Soli Deo Gloria''
More than 23.7k times played this month
Soli Deo Gloria was founded in 1997 and is therefore one of the youngest choirs in Urk. Soli Deo Gloria means 'God alone the glory'. The choir wants to fulfill this goal by musically spreading God's rich message of love and grace. In order to guarantee this Christian identity, we only cooperate with performances with an explicitly Christian or evangelistic character. The choir gives ten to fifteen performances a year and we are dressed in traditional Urk costumes. In addition, the choir also has alternative, modern clothing, which is mainly used for television recordings.
The conductor Jaap Kramer comes from a musical family and accompanied the congregational singing on the organ at the age of twelve. Playing the organ became a great passion of his. Jaap studied at the conservatory in Zwolle and at the Schumann Akademie.
At the age of 17 he started as the conductor of his first 'own' choir: Soli Deo Gloria, a Christian men's choir. Conducting turned out to be a talent of Jaap. He developed as a versatile conductor/accompanist and made making music his profession. He collaborated on many CD recordings and regularly participates in the well-known EO television program 'Nederland Zingt'.
In addition, Jaap's personal faith life deepened over the years. He says: "I believe it is my calling to dedicate myself to the Christian music world. Some people talk easily about their faith life. My language is music and in this way I would like to be an instrument in His hand."
