Christian choir 'Immanuël'
The Christian choir "Immanuel" in Kamerik was founded on 13 January 1975.
In the autumn of 1974, employees of the local Sunday school suggested the idea of founding a choir.
After preliminary consultation, it was decided to hold a founding meeting on 13 January 1975. At this meeting, 66 new members registered.
Mr. Henk Gijzen from Vinkeveen was appointed as conductor.
Under his leadership, the choir quickly grew to more than 90 members. In addition to the usual rehearsal evenings, performances were regularly given in churches and retirement homes. Mr. Henk Gijzen was the choir's conductor until the end of 1983. The last performance under his leadership was a television recording for the program "U zij de glorie" of the N.C.R.V. From the end of 1983 to the beginning of 1990, Mr. Siem van Leeuwen from Hedel succeeded Mr. Henk Gijzen as conductor. Under his leadership, an anniversary concert was given on the occasion of the 10th anniversary.
In addition, concerts were given in, among others, Dinxperloo, Well and Mijdrecht. From June 1990, the choir has been led by Mr. Arie Loonstra from Ede. Together with other choirs under his leadership, the choir has given performances in Woerden, Ede and Harderwijk.
The choir also participated in the radio program "Laat ons de rustdagwijden" of the E.O.
On January 13, 1995, the choir celebrated its 20th anniversary. The enclosed CD, recorded in the Buurkerk in Utrecht, was released to mark the occasion.
We hope you enjoy listening to it.
Teun Los, chairman.
