Desirée Kamp studied Pedagogical Sciences at Radboud University in Nijmegen. In daily life, she works in primary education.
She started playing the flute at the age of ten and is currently taking flute lessons with Carola Ligt. During and after her student days, she was a flutist with the Nijmegen Student Orchestra Collegium Musicum Carolinum and later with the New Nijmegen Chamber Orchestra. She is currently a flutist with the East Gelderland Symphony Orchestra (OGSO) in Doetinchem and plays flute in the flute-piano trio Con Slancio.
