Dick van Asselt studied organ, piano and choir and orchestral conducting at the Municipal Conservatory in Zwolle. He completed this education in 1986 as a performing musician. His teachers were Jaap Dragt and Harm Jansen and Jos Leusink. In addition to the Christian Hierdens Men's Choir, Dick is also conductor of the Elspeets Men's Ensemble.
