Elise Besemer (born 1994 in Rotterdam) began playing the violin at the age of five and studied with violin pedagogue Coosje Wijzenbeek from 2007 to 2013. Currently, she is studying with Jaring Walta at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. In 2011, Elise won first prize at the Davina van Wely Violin Festival. Since 2014, she has been the first violinist of the Arkovsky Sextet, which has performed at venues such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, and the Hermitage. In February 2015, Elise was selected by Liza Ferschtman to participate in the talent development program 'In de ban van het strijkkwintet' (In the Spell of the String Quintet). Elise plays a violin built by J.B. Vuillaume, loaned to her by the National Music Instrument Fund, and a bow built by Charles Peccatte.
