Conductor Gerrit Knikker was born on April 16, 1968 in Elburg. He received his first musical instruction at the age of 7 from Pieter Jan Leusink.
After graduating from high school, he studied organ at the conservatory in Zwolle with Harm Jansen. He also received choral conducting from Jos Vermunt.
Since 1992 he has been the conductor of Con Amore. In daily life he works as a mathematics teacher at the Jacobus Fruytier Scholengemeenschap in Rijssen. He also gives private organ lessons.
