Henriëtte de Bat-van Maelsaeke was born on 5 May 1971 in Rotterdam. Her musical interest came to the fore at an early age. At the age of 6 she received her first organ lessons from Cor Visser, the then organist of the Grote Kerk in Dordrecht. At the age of 14 she obtained her diploma as church organist at the V.O.G.G. After this, improvisation lessons were taken with Herman Lammers in Mijnsherenland, among others. Frans van Tilburg was also her teacher, with whom she studied organ and received choral conducting lessons.
She was also hired as organist of the Ger.Gemeente in Hardinxveld-Giessendam. Soon this spread to other churches in the Alblasserwaard.

At the age of 16, Henriette received her first appointment as conductor of a children's choir. Soon this expanded to include (children's) choirs in a.o. Werkendam and Ridderkerk and from the age of 20 Henriëtte had 10 children's, girls', youth and mixed choirs under her care. With her choirs she participated in various concerts at home and abroad. Concert tours were made to Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France and Israel.

Since her marriage, Henriëtte has lived in Kruiningen. In her hometown, she supervises the worship services of the Congregation. In addition, she is still active as the conductor of 2 youth choirs, a girls' choir and 2 mixed choirs.
