A few questions for Joke van Wijgerden.
Occupation: I used to be a kindergarten teacher.
Hobbies: Reading, writing, needlework, making clothes and using the computer.
Why did you start writing:
I've always loved writing, like writing essays at school. I also liked to write letters. After a great sadness in my life, I wrote this off. The paper was the listening ear for me. After a course in story writing, it turned out that I did have talent. And now, in 2001, when I was 68 years old, a book was published for the first time.

Joep and his animals
Joep breaks his leg

Why did you start writing children's books?
Because children's stories suit me best. This may be because I have been a kindergarten teacher for 15 years of my life.
Why at Uitgeverij Mes: By coincidence, "by coincidence" they call it.
What is the message in your book(s): Not really a message. I just write things from a child's daily life. Happy and sad, sometimes stupid events, or naughty ones. No fiction or horror or violence.
What is your goal: In health I would like to write a few more books about Joep. I would also like to write a novel for the elderly. A kind of regional novel.
