Joost van Belzen was born on August 16, 1988, in the Zeeland village of Krabbendijke. It quickly became apparent that Joost had a great love for the organ. At the age of 7, he received his first organ lessons from Cees van der Hart. Even at a young age, he participated in concerts. At the age of 12, Joost was appointed church organist in Kruiningen. At 15, Kees van Eersel became his organ mentor.
Choirs
Joost is connected as an organist and pianist to various choirs such as the Dutch Youth Choir. Additionally, Joost is the conductor of the Elim Men's Choir from 's-Gravenpolder, the Christian Mixed Eiland Choir from Zierikzee, the D.E.V. Men's Choir from Barendrecht, the Christian Singing Society Deo Juvante from Kesteren, the Soli Deo Gloria Men's Choir from Rhenen, and the Dutch Men's Ensemble.
Collaborations
Joost frequently collaborates with Peter Wildeman. Together they form the duo "4-Hands". In March 2008, their first CD was recorded. In July 2009, the duo gave a concert in the USA. Furthermore, Joost frequently performs both domestically and internationally. He has given concerts in Germany, England, France, Austria, Canada, and America. The most memorable experiences for Joost are the concerts in Cologne Cathedral and St. Eustache in Paris.
Teaching
Joost also works as a music teacher at the Gomarus Scholengemeenschap in Zaltbommel and works for W&B Publishing. Joost studied at the Schumann Academy in Utrecht. Currently, he is studying at the Rotterdam Conservatory under Ben van Oosten.
