Louis Robilliard

More than 311 times played this month

Louis Robilliard is a teacher at the Conservatoire National de Région de Lyon and chief organist of the large Cavaillé-Coll organ of the Saint-François-de-Sales there. In addition, he performs all over the world as a performing musician and teacher. His countless recordings have garnered widespread praise in the press. Because of his interest in organ building and the protection of organs, he has been working as a rapporteur for the Commission Nationale Supérieure des Monuments Historiques for ten years, a period in which he had some fifty instruments classified and made several major restorations possible.

As an interpreter and improviser, Louis Robilliard has a broad repertoire in which he shows a preference for the aesthetics of music from the 19th and 20th centuries, which requires the organist to be an "inspired architect", combining virtuosity with total mastery of the instrument.
