Maria Knops-Baas was born in 1983 in Papendrecht. From the age of twelve, she took private lessons with Deborah Jenner from Papendrecht. Later, she continued her studies with renowned Rotterdam harpist Yolanda Davids, where she received professional guidance.
Maria performs concerts throughout the country, often in combination with her husband, Lennert. Each year, they give an Orange and New Year’s concert at the Reformed Havenkerk in Alblasserdam. Maria is also frequently invited as a soloist and in collaboration with other instrumentalists for CD recordings, concerts, singing events, and wedding ceremonies. In 2009, she went on a concert tour through Israel.
Over the years, she has recorded several CDs as a duo with Lennert, including Met snarenspel en orgel, Lennert en Maria spelen diverse werken op orgel en harp, Doe bij uw harp de psalmen horen (Part 1), Kerst met Lennert en Maria and the latest release, Doe bij uw harp de psalmen horen (Part 2) in 2012. Maria can also be heard on various choir CDs and instrumental recordings.
