Martijn Kooijman

More than 86.5k times played this month

On January 7, 1984, Martijn was born in Utrecht. Shortly thereafter, the Kooijman family moved to Katwijk. When Martijn was six years old, his father bought him a keyboard. Using number chords, he was able to play it. However, he soon started taking organ lessons with the former church organist, Mr. Hoek, who was 80 years old but highly skilled and a strict teacher.

A few years later, he continued his organ lessons with Hendrik-Jan Colijn. He became the organist in his school class and at Sunday school. He was also asked to play for the Reformed evangelism services. When the Kooijman family moved to Goes, he took lessons from Johan Nijsse and Arno van Wijk. For several years now, Martijn has been accompanying the Sunday worship services at the Sion Church in Goes. In addition, Martijn is the regular accompanist of the children’s choir Jong Asaf in Goes.

As of June 1, 2019, he has officially been appointed as the organist for the Men’s Choir "De Lofzang" in Goes.
