Mike Fielding was born and raised in England. From the age of 7, he was inspired by his aunt Rita, who was admitted to the Royal Academy of Music in London. She taught him piano and later church organ. He worked for the BBC for 20 years and then as a freelancer for various media companies. He contributed to numerous music programs and for the past 10 years has been the chief editor of the religious program Songs Of Praise, where he also played instrumental pieces when needed.
