The Noordermannenkoor was founded on 26 November 1965 in the Noorderkerk. It now has more than 130 members divided into 4 parties. Since September 2013 the choir has been conducted by Edwin Velvis from Stedum (Groningen).
The choir rehearses every Monday evening from 19.45 - 21.45 in the wedding hall of the Zuiderkerk. The Noordermannenkoor is based on the Reformed Congregation.
The choir has sung for years under the direction of Hennie Slettenhaar; under his direction, the choir has released many LPs and has acquired a good reputation. Harm Hoeve from Rouveen conducted the choir for more than 19 years and retired in 2009. After Harm, the choir was conducted by Marcel van de Ketterij for 5 years; Since September 2013, Edwin Velvis has been the conductor of the Noordermannenkoor.
