Norbett Mattern won a first prize at the 'Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique' in Paris. Since 1960 he has been associated with the RTL Symphony Orchestra as a solo oboist.
He gave numerous concerts as a soloist and contributed to gramophone record recordings and radio and television broadcasts. He is co-founder of the Luxembourg 'Collegium Musicum'.
