Piet Wiersma, born in 1946 in Aduard (Gr.), is the organist of the Grote of Sint Nicolaaskerk in Monnickendam.
He studied at the Municipal Conservatory in Groningen with Wim van Beek and obtained the music education certificate B, the final diploma solo playing with distinction and the prize of excellence for organ.
Piet Wiersma is a much sought-after concert organist, he gives around sixty concerts in the Netherlands each year. He also performs frequently abroad, including
in South America, West Germany, Denmark and recently
(April '90) in Poland.
He is a teacher at the Music School 'De Wildsang' in Buitenpost. He also has a very extensive private teaching practice with training for the church organ certificate from the church music committee and the state organ diploma A and B, all in collaboration with Dr. Jan Luth, Anco Ezinga, Nico Verrips and Dirk Dijk, among others.
He forms a duo with Hans Alting, trumpet player in the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam. Several gramophone records of his playing appeared, including a series of the famous Hinsch organs in Kampen.
The Oude- or Sint Salvatorkerk in Veenendaal
In the year of the iconoclasm 1566, the Oude- or Sint Salvatorkerk in Veenendaal was consecrated by Johannes Knijff, suffragan bishop of Schenk van Toutenburg.
The new Veenkercke' was built as a single-nave late-Aotic church.
