The National Police Band
Was founded in 1949 and is composed of people who work for the National Police Corps. However, in recent years, municipal police officers have also been included in the orchestra. With its various components (harmony orchestra, marching band, steel band, dance orchestra and combo), the National Police Band fulfilled an important role in improving the relationship between the police and the public for many years.
The many performances at home and abroad ensured that the National Police Band became very well-known, both nationally and internationally. An overview of all the activities of the National Police Band (from 1949 to 1993) would therefore form a comprehensive book. Benefit concerts, gala concerts in the big concert halls, swearing-in ceremonies, installation and farewell meetings of commanders, openings of offices, ministries, musical accompaniment to big events like the EXPO in Brussels, Olympic Games for the disabled, Gymnastrada, various LPs, MCs and CDs, radio and TV recordings, etc. Too much to mention. The present CD "An American in Paris" will also be the last under the name of the National Police Band. In 1994, the reorganization of the Dutch police will become a fact and the existing National and Municipal police officers will be assigned to 25 police regions and the National Police Services Agency. The National Police Band, the musical showpiece of the National Police Corps for almost 45 years, will cease to exist as a result. In recent years, the National Police Band has recorded a considerable number of sound carriers.
