Robert Cekov (1968) was born in Strumica, Macedonia. He started his violin studies at a young age. In the former Yugoslavia he won a first and a third prize at two state competitions for young violinists. In 1989 he completed his conservatory studies in Novi Sad with Ilja Grubert. In the period 1985-90 he gave many recitals with piano accompaniment at various music festivals o.a.in Belgrade, Skopje and Novi Sad. He regularly performs as a soloist with the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 1996 he graduated from the Rotterdam Conservatory with Olga Martinova. Since 1990 he has been working as a principal tutti violinist with the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra (now Holland Symfonia) in Amsterdam. He plays chamber music with various ensembles. He also plays with the famous pianist Jan Mulder. He is concertmaster of his orchestra, the Mulder Consort, the Ichtus String Quartet and the Holland Symphony Quintet. He also regularly plays music with the Souvenir quartet and performs with various music ensembles around the world.
