Ruben van Asselt, born on December 14, 2004 in Uddel.
As a child he did not have organ lessons, but he did take piano lessons for a while. He stopped because he saw more pleasure in learning it independently. He succeeded quite well, but as he got older, he started to focus more on playing the organ. He noticed that this instrument attracted him very much, together with the music that went with it. His family is quite musical, and his parents taught him the basics of musical notes. He learned this pretty quickly, and he took on the challenge of playing all kinds of pieces. He had a 'feeling' for it, but also the patience to persevere.
At the age of 18 he became organist at the Reformed Congregation in the Netherlands in Elspeet. Since 2018 he has been a choir organist with Youth Choir Elad from Elspeet. Since 2021 he has also been able to call himself organist of the Elspeet children's choir De Nachtegaaltjes and since then he has accompanied 2 choirs with rehearsal evenings and performances.
Since 2023, he has been taking regular organ lessons with organist and conductor Gerben Budding, in the Sint-Janskerk in Gouda.
