CITY CHAIRS ELBURG
The City Boys' Choir Elburg was founded on 5 April 1984. Initiator and conductor Pieter Jan Leusink has pursued a method from the start, according to the age-old English boys' choir tradition. In the training choir, boys aged 5 to 6 are trained until they have received sufficient voice training to be able to sing in the concert choir. The choir performs the Messiah by G.F. Handel and the St. Matthew Passion by J.S. Bach in their entirety several times a year, both in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition, the boys participate in performances of the St. Matthew Passion by Bach and Oratorio choirs, including in the famous Amsterdam Concertgebouw. In addition to the more than 60 performances per year in their own country, the choir travels abroad; they have visited Italy, England, Wales, Germany, France, Belgium, Latvia, Denmark and Poland, among others. The choir has its own choir building where rehearsals are held almost daily. A social centre where choir members, friends and family members can meet in a relaxed atmosphere outside of rehearsals.
