The Van Lodenstein school choir
The school choir was founded in 1976; the school had only existed for 2 years at the time. Later, in addition to the large choir, a small choir was also formed, whose members also sing in the large choir.
Finally, there is the orchestra with about twenty instruments. From the start, it has been led by conductor C. het Jonk, who is associated with the school as a music teacher.
It is not easy to maintain a school choir for so long. Certainly not for a regional school like the Van Lodenstein College. The choir always practices after school. As a result, the choir members miss their normal transportation and often arrive home extra late. Moreover, the school choir suffers a major loss every year: as a result of the exams, the most practiced members drop out. The fact that the choir always has more than enough members (approximately 180) indicates how good the atmosphere and how great the enthusiasm is.
The choir is partly intended to strengthen the bond between school, student and parents. The latter results in the parent evenings, to which the choir and orchestra make a regular contribution.
