Vincent de Vries was born in 1969 in Scheveningen and received his first piano lessons from his mother at the age of 4. When he was 10 years old, he took the entrance exam at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. A year later, he received a scholarship that allowed him to take lessons with the French pianist Janine Dacosta. At the age of 12, the pianist Theo Bruins took him under his wing. In addition to majoring in piano, Vincent also studied organ with Wim van Beek and Bert Matter. At the age of 15 he made his debut as a concert organist.
After graduating as a Performing Musician in 1993 at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Jerome Rose enabled him to study for the title of "Master of Music" at Bowling Green University (Ohio, USA) on a scholarship. He then studied for two more years at Indiana University Bloomington for the performance certificate. After receiving his Ph.D. in 2004 from the University of Texas at Austin, Vincent became Assistant Professor and Director of Collaborative Piano at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.
Since September 2010, Vincent has been appointed Professor of Piano and Collaborative Piano at Yonsei University in Seoul, one of the leading universities in South Korea. He also gives recitals and master classes at universities in America and Asia.At the age of 15, Vincent made 2 LPs in the Lutheran Church and the Grote Kerk in The Hague (reissue on CD in 2018), followed by 11 CDs: Oude Kerk Amsterdam (2), Domkerk Utrecht (2), Joriskerk Amersfoort (2), Grote Kerk Maassluis, Bovenkerk Kampen, St. Martin Dudelange (Lux), St. Gudula Rhede (D) and the St. Aposteln Cologne (D). Vincent also made 5 CDs for MSR Classics (piano/harpsichord).
In recognition of his services to French organ music, Vincent was awarded the silver medal in 2003 by the Société Académique "Arts-Sciences-Lettres" in Paris.
