Wibrand van Norel (born in 1972 in Doornspijk) is a Dutch percussionist and conductor, specialized in timpani. His passion for percussion arose at a young age by his father, who taught him the basics. In 1990 he started his studies in classical percussion at the conservatory of Zwolle, where he graduated in 1997 as a Teaching Musician.

During his studies, Van Norel played in various orchestras, including the Orchestra of the East and the Netherlands Wind Ensemble. In 1995 he became conductor of the percussion ensemble of the Elspeets Fanfare Korps, which achieved national success under his leadership. He is also active as a composer, arranger and jury member at percussion competitions.

Since 2016 he has been music coordinator at CultuurKust in Harderwijk.
In 2020, he celebrated his 25th anniversary as a conductor, underlining his influence and dedication to Dutch percussion music.
