Willem was born on 17 September 1985 in the fishing village of Urk.
In his younger years he received organ lessons from the well-known church organist Piet Weessies in Urk. At a young age, he also joined various men's choirs, including the Urk men's choir Hallelujah. Later he moved to the Veluwe and joined the Reformed Men's Choir IJsselmuiden-Grafhorst under the direction of Freddy Veldkamp.
In order to specialize in singing and conducting, Willem took music lessons from Akke Lagendijk, a well-known musician from the Krimpenerwaard. He also receives choral conducting from musician Patrick van der Linden from Ridderkerk. As a singer, Willem is regularly asked.

In daily life, Willem works as a social worker with his own practice and in his spare time he has been in charge of various choirs, including the Christian Men's Choir Immanuël from Hilversum, the Interdenominational Men's Choir Zeewolde, the Christian Mixed Choir with Heart and Voice and the Youth Choir Cantica Nova. He is currently the conductor of the Slikkerveers Christian Men's Choir, the Zederiks Christian Men's Choir, Men's Ensemble Maranatha and Christian Men's Choir Con Forza

"I try to let the singers experience what they sing. Not only the notes, but also the lyrics. As soon as the audience and I feel that, the music will reach another level. If that chord is struck, it can be a great blessing."
