Wim de Penning received his first organ lessons at the age of 7 from Mr. J. de Wit Sr. from Zwijndrecht. Later he continued his organ studies with Herman van Vliet on the organs of Oudewater, Woerden and Amersfoort. He also devoted himself to piano and choral conducting. Wim is the musical director of the choirs Eensgezindheid in Oud-Alblas, Excelsior in Kockengen and the Bethel Church Choir in Zwijndrecht. In addition to being the conductor of these 3 choirs, he can often be heard as a choir accompanist on organ, piano and synthesizer. He is the regular accompanist of the men's choir Con Forza from Woerden.
As a church musician, Wim is affiliated with the Protestant Congregation of Mijdrecht. In that position he is organist of the Janskerk (Bätz) and De Rank and he leads the cantory and the singing group Inspire on a weekly basis. He is also organist in the PKN Churches in Buurmalsen and Rumpt. Wim is also the second organist of the Breeplein Church in Rotterdam.
Wim participates in the numerous major projects of conductor Hans Matla, such as the Jerusalem Passion (at home and abroad), large choral concerts and the special concerts around the music of Karl Jenkins. Unforgettable are the concerts on May 4 where The Armed Man has already been performed several times.
He has already released many CD recordings. He can be heard as a soloist, as an accompanist or as a conductor.
Wim has been active as a music producer for many years. In this capacity, in addition to the technique of the CD recordings, he also provides supporting instrumental parts on keyboards, percussion and percussion.
